NarroWay Plans "Summer Fun" Day for Kids July 20
Petting Zoo and Camel Rides start at 10am
FORT MILL, S.C. - June 22, 2017 - Finding fun summer activities for the kids can be challenging. On July 20, however, NarroWay Productions has a unique opportunity for kids of all ages in the greater Charlotte area. NarroWay's four-legged cast members will be on site for a hands-on petting zoo followed by camel rides starting at 10am at the NarroWay Theatre, located just off Carowinds Boulevard at I-77 exit 90. As an added bonus, all guests will be treated to a free bag of popcorn. Tickets are $10 for all activities or $5 for a single event and can be purchased online or by calling 803.802.2300. A limited number of tickets may be available for walk-up guests on the day of the event.
One of South Carolina's top-ranked dinner theaters, NarroWay is a family-friendly attraction and the only continuous running dinner theater in the greater Charlotte area. "The animals are involved in almost every show we do," says theater manager Lora McCoy. "They are our much-loved pets. Most have been with us for several years - many all their lives. We love to take opportunities like this to share them with people of all ages and see the joy they bring to others. It's a fun time to just feature our furry friends."
Sheba the Camel often catches the immediate attention of passers-by. "After all, it's not every day you see a camel in the deep south!" notes McCoy. At 19 years old, she has been on the NarroWay stage for 18 of those years. She was purchased from Hollywild Zoo in Inman, South Carolina, just prior to NarroWay's third performance season.
But Sheba is not the oldest animal in the barn. Gabriel, NarroWay's standard donkey, has been on the stage longer than any other. Now at 23, he has been with NarroWay for 19 years. "A man in Virginia was looking for a new home for him," explains McCoy. "His veterinarian just happened to be our founder's brother and suggested NarroWay. We couldn't have asked for a better donkey!"
Along with Sheba and Gabriel, the petting zoo will feature other NarroWay animals including a horse, miniature donkey, sheep, goats and pigs. Handlers will be with each animal and stations will be set up in walk-through fashion inside the theater, starting at 10am.
Camel ride activities will take place outdoors beginning at 10:45am. A designated "riding lot" features a special loading platform where riders can easily "saddle up" for a ride on Sheba. And while the event is being billed as a "Summer Fun Day for Kids," all ages are welcome.
The NarroWay Theatre is located minutes from Charlotte at I-77 exit 90 on Carowinds Boulevard in Fort Mill, South Carolina. In addition to the "Summer Fun Day" NarroWay also offers a number of other summer activities for kids, including Summer Camps in July and special performances of "The Little Red Hen" and NarroWay's "Biblical Field Trip" in August.
