From politicians to preschoolers, Teresa Dodd is as comfortable dining with Washington's elite as she is sitting on a floor teaching 3-year-olds to sing. This long-time NarroWay cast member may serve dinner and clean up trays for a group of thirty today and sing for the President of the United States tomorrow.
Teresa has performed on stage at NarroWay from the time the first show opened outdoors at King's Arena amphitheatre more than 15 years ago. She heard a radio advertisement, came to one of the first audition times, and has been a vital part of the NarroWay cast ever since. She has been involved in every Broadway-style show featured at NarroWay (except "Billy Loves Bobby Sue" which features a teen cast) and currently peforms in six different shows.
Born in Washington, D.C., Teresa grew up in southern Maryland. She married her husband, John in 1983. Together they have two daughters, Katie and Mary.
Once married, Teresa and John moved to northern Virginia and remained active in the D.C. area. Teresa sang with the National Christian Choir in Washington for many years before her husband's job caused the family to move to Charlotte in 1994.
Once they made the move, Teresa felt like she no longer had a place to sing. New to the area, she was unsure as to where she could get involved. Then, just two years later, she heard about a new christian theatre company that was just starting out in the Charlotte area. She auditioned for NarroWay and, as she says, "the rest is history!"
Teresa works part-time as a pre-school teacher at Tot Time Preschool at Church at Charlotte. On the other end of the spectrum, her husband, John, is the president of the Jesse Helms Center in Wingate, NC. Consequently, Teresa is no stranger to elite political circles. She has sung for several senators, President George W. Bush and even Margaret Thatcher, the former prime minister of the United Kingdom.
Teresa has an uncanny ability to relate to the most diverse audience. From the most sophisticated to the most naive, she is unimpressed and undeterred by social status. Teresa is simply herself, regardless of her surroundings. That quality endears her to all who know her.
Teresa is one of the premier soloists at NarroWay Productions. And she is committed to excellence. Behind the scenes, she is one who is not only faithful to rehearse with her cast, but often attends rehearsal times for the cast in which she is not involved to stay abreast of changes and reinforce what has been learned.
Teresa can currently be seen on stage in the patriotic favorite "Not Just Another Love Story." She also performs in "Lord of Light," "The Real Christmas Story," "The Fourth Cross," "A Stranger for Christmas," and the brand-new show, "Wounded Warrior."
Thank you, Teresa, for all you do! You make a difference!
